PUB
ICE BREAKER - Friday evening from 1800
We thought
it might be nice to arrange an informal get-together on the Friday
evening. With this in mind we've explored a few pubs (I can't emphasise
too much how stressful arranging
this reunion is!) around the old docks and discovered The
Famous Royal Navy
Volunteer (left). This is a gem of pub, packed with
naval memorabilia, in King Street, a cobbled street which retains
many 17th century buildings. If you intend to arrive on Friday, we
suggest you just turn up from 1800 onwards. Alternatively, arrange
to meet your friends there for a drink and perhaps then go on for
a meal - the pub tends to get very busy after about eight pm. There
are many eating places within easy reach. There will be no need to
book for this event and
there is no charge.
REUNION
DINNER - Saturday evening
This will be held in the main function room of the Bristol Marriott
hotel. There will be a set menu at a cost of £28.00 per person based
on a minimum of 200 and with the usual dietary alternatives on request.
As usual please let me know if you wish to sit with particular friends
or to make up a table, indicating your requirements on the booking
form. Although you can't always know at the time you book who else
is going to be there, you can still suggest possible names. I'm usually
able to accommodate some, if not all, of your requests.
CURRY
LUNCH - Sunday lunchtime
Again this will be held in the Bristol Marriott hotel. A selection
of curries will be served along with the usual accompaniments, or
dietary alternatives, at £20.00 per head based on a minimum of 130.
TOUR
OF HARVEYS WINE CELLARS - Saturday morning
Harvey's
of Bristol run guided tours and tastings in their cellars and we hope
to organise a visit on Saturday morning. A guided tour is followed
by a light-hearted informal tutored tasting of a selection of wines.
The cost will be approximately £12 per head. The event will depend
on sufficient interested numbers.
HARBOUR
TRIP - Saturday afternoon
The Bristol Packet Company can run a boat trip for us round the harbour
and onto the river Avon on Saturday afternoon. The Tower Belle carries
a maximum capacity of 80 and does have a small bar on board. It should
not cost more than £5 per person. If this event is over-booked there
is a possibility of chartering a second vessel.
GOLF
TOURNAMENT - Saturday afternoon
Alan Myers has agreed to run a golf tournament, in which players will
complete for the BI Cup. This to be presented during the Curry Lunch
on Sunday. For all golf information, please contact Alan

SPECIAL
INTERESTS
If anyone wishes to promote or present a film show or exhibition on
a BI theme, please note your interest on the booking
form and contact Sue Spence separately to discuss details including
the location, timing and the costings for hiring equipment from the
hotel, if necessary.
ACCOMMODATION
Marriott Hotel
All
bedrooms at the Marriott have either one or two double beds and the
rates we've obtained for B&B are £65.00 for single occupancy, £85.00
for double occupancy. The hotel has allocated 60 rooms for BI guests.
We would suggest you book your requirements in good time and directly
with the hotel, and be sure to quote "BI Reunion" to get
the concessionary rates. The hotel is in Lower Castle Street and free
parking for residents is available in the adjacent NCP car park. Facilities
include swimming pool, gym and sauna. Website: www.marriotthotels.com/brsdt
